Hey guys, I hope you’re all doing well !
Just a little post to keep you updated about my life : I have started work a week ago, finally! As you guys may know, I should have started on the 30th of March, but because of this bloody Covid-19, it has been postponed to the 15th of June.
In order for me to work, I had to rent a car, to get me from and to work, for 240€ per month (around 400 AUD). This car also allows me to see come back to my parent’s house on my days off. I now have a fancy blue car, rented for 6 months. I can’t wait to take my wife on cute dates!
I started my week by a day off on Monday, why not! On Tuesday, I had a day of training with Charlotte, the hotel manager, about how to organise my work. We also had a meeting on the rules to follow during the pandemic : wearing a mask while being at work, wash your hands and every surfaces, every hour…
On Wednesday, I was off again, before actually starting work on Thursday. Friday was the big re-opening, it felt so good to work after being home for 7 months!
My colleagues are all super nice and here to help, we all work as a team, such a welcoming change from my last work experience in France.
I am staying at the hotel, in a little bedroom with toilets and a sink. I only have to share the shower with one of my colleagues, but everything is super nice and clean. The only thing I have noticed is that my toilets are leaking but it should be fixed in the next few days.
The hardest part is getting used to work again, with a new life rythm. my shifts are the following : either 8am to 4.30pm or 2.30pm till 11pm. The great thing is that I have an hour lunch/dinner break.
Lea’s birthday
Sunday was Lea, one of my best friends, 25th birthday. We went out for a drink and dinner. We are both super busy and Lea being 600km away from me, we don’t see each other very often. We had a great evening catching up. We even went on a walk along the sealine, it was sooooo beautiful out there!
Our long-distance relationship
With me working again, Taya and I had to adjust to this new rythm. I am no longer available all the time and neither is she. The Schengen (Europe) borders are reopening on the 1st of July, but it’s a different story for the Australian borders. No one knows when they will reopen, some people say September or even December. Despite this situation being bad, let’s be honest, we are still making the best of it. She makes me so damn happy and she is the best thing that ever happened to me, I am not gonna let her go anytime soon. We are gonna miss on Taya’s birthday, our one year and probably my birthday, but it doesn’t stop us from loving each other so much. She even sent me roses and chocolates for our 10 month anniversary, she is the best !
I am now focusing on working, keeping up with my new work schedule and saving money.
I am thinking about taking some great shots of the beach (only 50 meters away from the hotel!) or go for walks along the sealine when I have days off.
I can’t wait to share all of this new chapter with you guys, be ready to see some great beach pictures !
